Spring Gourd Show:  It was a Success!!!
Success is measured in several different ways. It can be measured by money, volunteers or attendees. Overall, I do believe we will have to call this one a success.  Over the 2 day event we had around 500 visitors. We had 3 raffle baskets made from donated items from Bayou Gourd Farm, Carole Rudolf, Susan Barnett and R&R Kuntry Pumpkin Center. Zelda Hornsby, Carolyn Roberson and Sallie Swor won the baskets and Betty Richardson won a King sized John Deere Tractor quilt donated by Raleigh & Mary Wallace. After winning it, she sold it to Steve Richardson for an additional $20.00 for the TVGS. All total the raffle brought in $159.00, Kitchen $532.00, Baked Goods $95.95 and Yard Sale $299.50  . We had a total of $2558.85 total income that was show related and paid out a total of $1924.41 after all expenses of supplies and teachers we netted $634.44.  I feel that we are on the road to a bigger and better show for 2009. We have several supplies left that can be used throughout the year for various functions and at the 2009 show.  Again, I’d like to thank Valerie Braun, Norm & Maxine Osburn, Paul Roberson, Bill & Sharon Leon, Lila Cline, Tricia Roberson, Carole Rudolf, Bayou Gourd Farm, Glenn Burkhalter, Susan Barnett, Raleigh & Mary Wallace, Elizabeth West, Kathy James, Fonda Haddad, Lee Brewington, Eunice Cannon, Betty Richardson, Glenn Burkhalter and Marty McCollum for your help and donations. I would also like to thank those TVGS members that came out to support the vendors that supported us.

Without the combination of teachers, vendors and visitors we wouldn’t have a show. I do wish that sales had been better for our vendors and we would have had more member support. We are now working on what we DID wrong, what WENT wrong and how to improve it. I’m asking for your opinions on what you think. Please help us answer the questions on the questionnaires on pages 25 & 26 of our newsletter. These will be discussed at the June 28th meeting. Please forward the answers to Lisa before the June meeting or bring them with you.
